I took these (above & below) today, June 17. The first chick was found June 5, so it's 12 days old here. Black Vultures don't use nests. They lay their eggs on the floor of an abandoned barn, shelter, or in a tree stump, log, etc. |

ReplyDeleteI was surprised that the chicks color is beige. They are so cute. Like I said never thought I would think about a vulture looking good. You have brought a new world to me. I am thankful to you for that. Still think the turkey vultures are ugly lol

Lynne2 - you're right, they do vomit as a protection/defense kind of reaction. They say it's actually the putrid, horrific smell of it that keeps preditors, etc., away. Hope I never do smell it.
